Selecting the right beans as well as the right growing region is very difficult. We chose East Africa because of its tropical climate and rich volcanic soil. We also love the local coffee growing legacy and time tested traditions.

Roasting coffee is also a very fun, challenging and rewarding experience. Half art, half science - roasting really involves a significant amount of precision, as well as all of your senses - i.e., the smell of each batch during and after each roast, watching the color change with each turn of the drum, listening for the first and second crack, cupping each batch for consistency, quality, etc.
